Welcome to CareStop Behavioral Health

At CareStop Behavioral Health, double-board-certified doctor of nursing practice and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner Terrill Cooper, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC, provides high-quality mental and behavioral health care to adults in Georgia. Patients can receive care from Cooper in person or via telehealth.

Cooper studied at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, earning his undergraduate degree. He then enrolled at South University in Savannah, Georgia, and obtained his master’s degree in family nursing. He later earned a post-master’s certificate in psychiatric and mental health nursing and a doctorate of nursing practice from Valdosta State University in Georgia.

CareStop Behavioral Health is a full-service psychiatric practice. Cooper has more than 8 years of experience diagnosing and treating a range of mental health disorders and behavioral conditions, including attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, insomnia, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Cooper is well aware of the stigma surrounding mental health care and has made it his life’s mission to raise awareness, education, and advocacy. His integrative and holistic treatment approach meets patients where they’re at, allowing them to address mental health concerns in a calm, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment.

At CareStop Behavioral Health, Cooper takes an integrative and holistic treatment approach to mental health care. He encourages all patients to play an active role in their care, listening to their opinions and feedback at each phase of the treatment process.

Instead of simply trying to stop problematic behavior, Cooper works with each person to get to the root of their symptoms and concerns. He uses non-pharmacological interventions whenever possible, including healthy lifestyle changes, stress management techniques, and counseling (talk therapy), to help patients feel better and improve their mental health.

When medication is required, Cooper initiates treatment with the lowest effective dose. He closely monitors patients for side effects and adverse reactions, making adjustments when needed.
